21 mayo Immigration...The things they do really surprise me sometimes. Javier (a Mexican with permanent residency) was on his way to his mom's house with Brendan this evening, and saw an old friend (a natural born American citizen) driving along side him on the freeway. They decided to pull off in the next town and chat for a few minutes. And who pulls up behind them?.... A big white Immigration van (already carrying another 4-5 Mexicans). After scanning Javier's green card through their machine (which I made him carry, despite his objections and the fact that at the Immigration office they tell you to keep it in a safe place and not to carry it with you) and coming to the conclusion that he is not here illegally, the two men bid Javier and his friend a good night, got back in their big white van, and left, presumably to find more "illegal aliens". Thankfully enough! Imagine what would have happened if we had listened to these people in the office who told us to keep that card in a safe place and not carry it around. Where would my son be right now? And my husband? I know that people aren't supposed to be here without "permission" from the government, but I think that is wrong to stop somebody on the side of the road and ask them if they are legal or not. He was minding his own business. Just thought you all might like to know just how much they're actually cracking down on this new law....though I'm not sure whether or not it has passed yet. Hope everyone has a great night! 23 marzo Better late than never...I was out of town for a couple days, with no computer access, but here it is: 09 marzo After all this time...I'm still here! I've just been a bit busy lately, with school, of course. The quarter is coming to an end. Finals are next week. I only have 2, though. One on Thursday, one on Friday. So , that leaves the beginning of the week free for me to move! YAY! For those of you who don't already know, the University decided to convert the apartments that I'm currently living in to dorm rooms, so we are being forced out. Oh well...life happens, right? Anyhow, just wanted to let you all know that I am still alive and kicking. Hope to see some of you really soon! 15 diciembre 3.45 That would be my GPA! I got an A- in both Geography and Health, and a B in Music. Not bad for my first quarter!
Now that school is out for the quarter, I've been quite busy with catching up on my housework. I finally have almost everything unpacked and put away.
Adrian will begin his Winter Break next week. He's not looking forward to it. That boy loves school! But the break will be good for him. He gets to help me make fudge next week, which he loves to do. Since Brendan will still be in daycare in the mornings, that will give me and Adrian some quality time together.
I hope you all have a wonderful Chrismas! I'm sure that I'll see most of you soon! 04 diciembre My Baby's Two!!! My baby turned 2 yesterday! It feels like he was born last week. Time just goes by too fast. We had a few people over to celebrate with cake and ice cream, and they all brought him toys! He made out like a bandit. Thank you, everyone. He's really having fun playing with everything.
Friday was Adrian's school concert. He was a cute little reindeer. During Engine, Engine #9, he got to play the marimbas. He really enjoyed that. There's a picture down at the bottom. It's a little blurry, but the best we got! (Thanks, Dad!)
I have finals coming up this week. It's the end of the quarter, so I'll have a month off! Maybe I'll be able to catch up on my laundry that's been piling up! I will let you all know the results of my classes as soon as I know. Talk to ya soon! |
